Piccolo Park childcare centres at Sylvia Park, Botany Downs and Mt Richmond feature fresh, purpose-built, state-of-the-art equipment. Check us out!

Piccolo is an Italian word that means: small, little, tiny, young. That’s why our logo features a baby Pukeko. And the “Park” part of our Piccolo Park name is a nod to the park-like outside areas at our childcare centres. The children liken the outside area to a beach at our Sylvia Park, centre and a farm at our Ti Rakau Drive, Botany Downs.

We Lovingly Care For

Wonderful, warm and caring staff in our childcare centres

Our wonderful, warm and caring teachers will guide your child on their exciting learning journey. Our childcare centres are staffed with qualified, professional teachers. These include owners and family members Rukshana and Narisa, who are actively involved in running our childcare centres.

Our diverse skills make us a great team and we absolutely love what we do.

The Piccolo Park approach is a reflection of our deeper reason for being

Our role is to see each child grow and develop to their true capacity in the critical early years. We get great joy and satisfaction knowing we are creating a strong foundation for future years. We do this through loving care, spending quality time and ensuring each child gets individual attention. We also believe in having fun, building confidence, expressing individuality, and fostering relationships with children and their parents. All in a stimulating environment where children are inspired to learn, grow, create and explore.

What we stand for

To ensure we create a great experience for children and parents, we consciously weave our core values into daily life at Piccolo Park childcare centres…

  • Respect, no matter where people are from
  • Honesty
  • Equality
  • Quality – doing things right the first time
  • Having fun!

About Our Childcare Centres

Fantastic teachers and quality care make a big difference in the early development of a child. So we choose the teachers for our childcare centres very carefully and look after them well. All of our staff are either qualified or soon to be qualified…

  • Qualification in ECE recognised by NZ Teachers Council
  • First aid qualified

Not only that – we also employ more teachers in our childcare centres than the minimum required by law, which means better supervision and teaching for your child.

We believe it’s important for our teachers to take time to get to know you and your child. It’s the only way their individual needs can be properly catered for. The owners are actively involved in the centre and are very happy to have direct contact with you.

You’ll find our childcare centre fees are very realistic and affordable. They include lunch and morning/afternoon teas. We also have a wonderful variety of learning resources so your child can learn, grow, create and explore in all sorts of different ways. No dated, worn out equipment here – we even have iPads and carefully selected developmental software.

Good nutrition is important for brain development. That’s why a qualified chef has designed our menu, established the kitchen and trained our cook. The chef has carefully developed the meals using the Heart Foundation guidelines – and they’ll be awarded the Healthy Heart Foundation tick soon too. So you can rest assured all your child’s meals and snacks here will be balanced and highly nutritious.

Our menu takes into account any children who may have allergies or special dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, etc. We are also a nut-free centre. If you have gluten, vegetarian, halal, or any cultural or religious requirements, please let us know and we will adapt to suit.

The outdoor areas of our childcare centres are pretty cool, as voted by the children themselves. It’s best summed up by a child visiting our Sylvia Park, Mt Wellington centre. We overheard her shouting excitedly, “Daddy, Daddy, I’ll show you the outside, it’s like a beach!”

Piccolo Park’s outdoor area is safe, private and there are a great range of activities. Including some wonderful water features that are huge fun and great teaching tools too. Our outdoor area gives children the freedom to be active learners, experimenters and explorers.

You are most welcome to come and view – just get in touch to arrange a visit so we can show you around.

Through our online portfolio system you will be able to share in the magic of your child’s early learning journey. The stories and development recorded here is available for you to download onto your own devices and will also be printed and put into your child’s journey book. Learning journey books tell the story of your child’s development while at Piccolo Park and is something that you will want to keep forever!

Piccolo Park is a very encouraging environment for our little Jessica. Thinking about experiences at a previous childcare centre, the way Piccolo Park stands out is their personal touch towards every child, the interactive learning experiences, the development of Jessica’s personality, and the overall hygiene levels. It’s amazing how quickly and easily they got her toilet trained. The staff are so welcoming that she didn’t have any problems settling in.

Our son Denzel started at Piccolo Park child care centre when he was 7 months old. I love the 7:30am-6:00pm hours, which allows for flexible drop-offs and pick-ups. There atmosphere is welcoming and friendly and the staff are very nurturing. They take care of our “childcare” needs, education, physical activity, and more! A huge thanks to the teachers and staff at Piccolo Park.

Lijo & Kavita

Piccolo Park has been a fantastic place for our daughter’s growth & confidence since she started at the age of 4. The staff are amazing. When they greet us and tell us everything about our daughter’s day, they ALWAYS have smiles on their faces. They’re genuinely interested in what she does. They take notice of her habits and her strengths and then they nurture those strengths. We wholeheartedly recommend Piccolo Park.

Jaime & Shaun

As a first time mum returning to work, I was really nervous about leaving my baby with strangers. The Piccolo Park team made the transition much easier. It’s great knowing that my son is well cared for in a calm environment where he is encouraged to explore and learn new skills.

Dani

Thank you for taking such good care of our daughter and making sure her learning is fun – we feel fortunate to have found you. It makes going to work so much easier knowing that she has a safe place to be where she can thrive and be loved. Sending our daughter to Piccolo Park was a great decision and she will happily stay there until it is time for her to attend school. The teachers are fantastic, warm and friendly people who give each child personal attention. The facilities are always bright and clean, and it makes me feel good to know they serve healthy, homemade meals.

Piccolo Park is an amazing child care centre. When my daughter Anah-Maria started there she was reserved, quiet and shy. Now she’s the most outgoing, adventurous and spontaneous little girl ever. The staff are just superb, they’re all very easygoing and very caring. The culture, diversity and their philosophy is what attracted me. They help children succeed by exploring and engaging with other schools, e.g. Sylvia Park School for reading. This reflects Vygotsky’s theory of scaffolding and ZPD – giving children a social nature of learning. I couldn’t have asked for better than the team at Piccolo Park.
